MATRA CIRCLE

Kavita is a Mother, Guide, Initiator, and Land Weaver at Roots to Sky Sanctuary. She is deeply attuned to Shakti the path of Devi, the Goddess and her life’s work unfolds as an offering of puja, ritual, and remembrance. Kavita honors yoga as an intricate tapestry of subtle energetics, where asana is but one vital thread in a vast lineage of embodied wisdom.

Through the Sanctuary, Kavita listens deeply to the land, cultivating relationships with both local and international Indigenous communities to revive and protect sacred ceremonial spaces. In this spirit as a part of the global south and creating the portals of rememberance. She welcomes Earth Guardians such as the Kuntanawa Nation, protectors of the lungs of the world in the Amazon, whose ancestral wisdom nurtures the survival of both people and the planet.

 

Recent gatherings, including Where the Waters Meet: A Women’s Worldview, were co-created for and with women who are powerful visionaries, lawyers, and peacebuilders decolonizing the ways we make and embody peace. This work honors the legacy of the ancestors, affirming that ceremony, community, and land stewardship are vital medicines for our times.

 

Rooted in Ayurveda, sacred adornment, and the abundance of Lakshmi, Kavita Weaves is a lifestyle of offerings that embody the alchemy of yoga from its source.  Interweaving prana, body, nourishment, and beauty as pathways to liberation. She carries forward ancient nourishment practices from the Indus Valley wisdom traditions, honoring sacred foods, waters, and rituals as vessels of memory and transformation.  Indus and present day Punjab the of the five rivers.   

 

Kavita also supports community healing through the integrative arts, weaving creative expression with her attunement to collective restoration. She is committed to co-creating spaces of empowerment for women and children—sensitive to subtle energies and timeless wisdom—ensuring that the voices of future generations rise with strength, reverence, and joy.

 

This has led to the creation of Matra Circle, a non profit actively decolonizing our sacred way of living with Mother Earth along with Nil Akselioglu and Neil Takemoto.  She is also part of Dias De Los Muertos and other organizations that support matriarchy.   

Guided by the principles of matrilineal wisdom and community care, Nil co-founded Matra Circle to support women leaders, healers, and change-makers who serve at the heart of their communities. 

 

Born of Turkish Anatolian lineage, her leadership centers on reciprocity, belonging, and the power of collective support. Drawing from years of experience facilitating women’s empowerment journeys through her mission, Kyss My Blyss, her work bridges earth technology, sacred remembrance of womb wisdom, and the healing intelligence of nature. 

 

A mother, healer, and visionary, she brings grounded devotion and fierce heart to her leadership.  From uplifting the mission and guardianship of the Amazon with the Kuntanawa Nation, to guiding women back home to their bodies through powerful embodiment experiences, she is dedicated to weaving together the personal and the planetary, the practical and the sacred.

Neil is a systems innovator, community weaver, and advocate for Indigenous-led healing and self-determination. As Founding Executive Director of Sovereignty Rises, he guides work at the intersection of regenerative development, behavioral wellness, and cultural sovereignty. His leadership bridges architecture, ancestral knowledge, and systems design to co-create environments where wellness and belonging are built into the fabric of community life.

 

Born in Hawai‘i and of Japanese ancestry, Neil’s worldview is rooted in a lived understanding of interconnection, between land, spirit, and people. His path has led him to walk alongside Tribal Nations and urban Native communities across the continent, supporting the design of sovereign systems of housing, health, and economy.

 

Neil stewarded the founding of several Native-led initiatives, including The Green Buffalo Companies and Green Buffalo Institute in C̣aƞṡayapi (Lower Sioux Community), advancing regenerative hemp-based housing and workforce wellness programs; Beyond the Canoe, fostering intergenerational healing and leadership; and NovelPath Behavior Wellness, a BIPOC-led clinic integrating expanded-consciousness trauma treatment. He also serves as a co-founding advisor of the Sacred Medicine Circle, which develops ethical frameworks for Indigenous-led plant medicine healing.

 

As a Matra Circle Board Director, Neil brings a systems lens grounded in reverence for matrilineal leadership, sacred reciprocity, and collective care. He is devoted to reweaving the ancient relationship between built environments and the feminine principles of regeneration, creating communities where women are not only honored but serve as the blueprint for how the world restores balance.
